La Havas recording at home for the online 2020 Focus Music Festival

Three short live sets in support of her new record

To support the July release of her self-titled third album, Lianne La Havas has been doing the promotional rounds COVID-style. Because of the pandemic, she appears and records from home in the United Kingdom and sends the files over the internet.

Today’s playlist features two intimate and low key performances and one lush, orchestral arrangement with the BBC Orchestra. The first is a solo set of three songs for the June 20 Focus Music Festival curated by British rapper and spoken word artist Kae Tempest. The online festival was organised by Belgian media outlets Knack Focus/Focus Vif and Radio 1.

The second is an impassioned recording of Bittersweet made at London’s Roundhouse for Stephen Colbert’s A Late Show. Vocalist Frida Touray joins La Havas on this spare and poignant arrangement.

Kurated is a music sharing project.
Stay tuned,
